Facilities

VCU Dental Care’s pediatric clinic is now located in the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU on Broad Street (Children’s Pavilion), the only building of its kind in the region to bring pediatric medical, surgical and dental services together under one roof. Featuring some of the best views in Richmond, the clinic includes 4,200 square feet and 15 patient chairs – five in private exam rooms and 10 in dental stations. Faculty offices are currently located in the VCU Dental Building 1. Pediatric dental services are also still offered on our Brook Road Campus too.

In the U.S., over 51 Million school hours are lost each year to dental related illness. Tooth Decay is the single most common chronic childhood disease and can have damaging effects to the child’s overall well-being. Co-locating dentistry, primary care and specialty care enables us to increase the number of children who receive regular, coordinated medical and dental care, which is a critical foundation to a healthy childhood.

The Health Sciences Library and the Ambulatory Care Center for the VCU Medical Center are located across the street from the dental school. The Health Sciences Library is the largest health science library in Virginia and serves as a resource for resident research and patient care information. The majority of the hospital based general anesthesia cases are performed at the Ambulatory Care Center and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU Outpatient Pavilion.
